Use Keyboard with Mouse (on-screen Keyboard)
If you feel that your keyboard is not
working or some of its keys not functioning then you can use a windows build-in
keyboard on your desktop screen. This property of keyboard is available in
Windows XP and Windows 7.
Follow these simple steps to use the screen board
- Visit the start menu and click on run. Write "osk" and push Enter Button (without commas).
- After a few
seconds keyboard will appear on your desktop screen.
- Use the mouse to click on keys to perform operations.

2. Increase Speed of Hard Disk
It is a common observation that that sometimes our computer speed
slows down. This is happening due to the poor speed of the hard drive. This
trouble can be answered by boosting the hard drive speed.
Follow the steps to increase the speed of the
Hard Disk:-
- Go to the Start menu and
click on run Icon.
- Type sysedit.exe in
run and press enter
- Sys config will
show up.
- Multiple windows
will appear but you will only select system.ini.
- This window
contains line 386enh.
- After this
line type (Irq 14=4096) close the window & save it.
- Reboot your
PC.
- Hopefully, you
will feel the better performance of your computer
3. Turn on PC in Just 10 Seconds
Click on the start button and select run &
type Regedit and hit enter. This will open Registry
Editor to look for the key HKEY
LOCAL_MECHINE/SYSTEM/Current/Set Control/Content Index and Key Called Startup
Delay. Twice click on it.
Its default value is 4800000/5300
hexadecimal
Change the value to 40000.
Close the Registry Editor and reboot your
computer and check the result.
4. How to Hide Files and Folders by Using Command Prompt
By using this method you can hide your personal data from anyone
else once files are hidden they cannot be viewed by any search option even by
selecting Show all Hidden Files and Folders.
To hide Files and Folders just follow the steps given below:-
- Press short cut key window
key + R Run command dialog box will appear.
- Type cmd and
hit enter command prompt windows displays.
- Type attrib + s +
h drive name/file name and press enter.
- The desired folder will
be hidden (it cannot be viewed by any search option).
- If you like to see this
folder again then the same command but replaced + with
flags s and h.
5. Free Up or Clean RAM using Notepad
Sometimes processes that are executed are stored in RAM which is
not needed for the operating system. We can remove or free up the RAM with unused
data to increase the speed of the system. We can clean the RAM by using a
notepad application. For this open the notepad and type FreeMem=Space
(64000000) and save it as CleanRAM.vbs on the
desktop.
Use inverted commas with the name of the file.
execute the file and free RAM memory.
You can re-write the following code from the
file for more clean-up purposes.
1. FreeMem=Space
(1280000000)
2. FreeMem=Space (2560000000)
3. FreeMem=Space (10240000000)
6. Install Windows XP Faster
Normally Windows XP takes 30-40 minutes to install on a computer.
It is too much time to install the window.
To install faster on your computer just follow the step-by-step guide given below:-
- Power on your computer and start with a bootable
Windows XP CD.
- At the first stage, windows will load installation
files.
- Select Drive C for installation.
- For Partition to format select NTFS.
- Setup will copy files in the selected drive and
will try to reboot your computer.
- After rebooting the XP logo will appear press
the Shift+F10 button.
- It will launch the command prompt.
- From their write "taskmgr".
- Go to the options process tab
and locate Setup.exe press the right mouse
button on setup.exe and select Set
priority a submenu will be seen. Here priority will be a normal
select priority to High or above normal.
- This will lead the installation process to be much
faster than the normal time.
7. Increasing System Performance
If your system has 512 Megs or more of memory then you can increase
system performance by having the core system kept in memory.
- Start Regedit
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM//CONTROL/SessionManager\Memory Management\Disable Paging Executive.
- Set the Value to be 1.
- Restart your computer and see the result.
8. Removing Multiple Boot Screens
To remove unwanted multiple boot screens just follow these steps:-
- On the My Computer icon
click right. Click on
Properties.
- Chose the option "advance
tab".
- Select Setting in the Startup
and Recovery Section.
- Select the operating system
which you desired.
- Click the ok button.
- Again press the setting and
click on Edit.
- It will open the boot. in.File.
- Now you can remove that OS that
you do not like to sho
9. Getting Back Missing Folder Options
Open "Run" and
type gpedit. msc.
Now go to user Configuration, Adm
templates, Windows Component, and then Windows Explorer click on windows
explorer 3rd option will appear on side of the screen, and removes the
folder options menu item from the tools menu.
10. Random Access Memory (RAM)
Speed of PC makes faster by simply adding an extra module of RAM.
Use RAM Booster to proactively free up unused RAM at regular intervals.
11. Password Setting
a. Supervisor Password
If you do not want to access any to change your BIOS setting then
set the password as a supervisor in the BIOS and set it as a user password.
b. User Password
If you want to prevent access to anyone else then set the user
password.
12. Find & Delete files wasting space
Windows build-in tool called WindDirStat can be
used to find easily which files & folders are occupying more space on your
drive where you can delete them and free up bigger storage space.
